Craft Retreat 2, 2019 Jo Wyles' Workshop

This was the brief for Jo's workshop:

As we all know there are many different aspects to papercraft.  Jo Wyles will be showing you how to make a paper vase which you can put some funky handmade flowers in or use it to hold your paintbrushes.  Whatever you choose to put in it, it will make a lovely addition to any crafters desk.

We used cheap and cheerful foam to make the flowers - I seemed to spend a lot of time on the floor:

I was very pleased with my make:

Craft Retreat 2, 2019 Sue Tossell's Workshop

I am currently on holiday in Australia - but still trying to share with you the fun we had during CR2!

This was Sue Tossell's workshop using stencils, Alchemy wax and Sparkle Medium:

 We made some stunning cards!!

This was my take on Sue Tossell's workshop...

Recipe:
1. White square card blank.
2. Alchemy waxes and Sparkle Medium directly onto card blank through a stencil and also onto separate piece of card to cut out elements.

3. Sentiment stamped on small piece of card, trimmed and faux stitched with a fineliner.
4. All elements added using foam tape.

Happy Crafting!

Craft Retreat 2 2019 Post #4 Ina Carney's Workshop

Here we are at the start of Day #2 and ready for Ina's Workshop...

This workshop turned out to be a real favourite, with many of us making spin off cards...
This was the brief:

We all love to keep up with the latest trends and products. Join Ina Carney in making cards using the new wreath builder concept which is currently taking the crafting world by storm. It uses all those tiny stamps that you thought were too small to make anything effective. In eight quick and easy steps using the templates provided, you can have the perfect card for any occasion by adding the greeting of your choice in the centre circle.

We used a variety of small stamps and stamping platforms. Ina supplied us with a template which we moved round to stamp the image 8 times.

Here are examples from the day:

Double sided!

After the event, several of us immediately started playing with the idea...
Here is Elaine's granddaughter (aged 6)...

and examples from Sandra, Karen and Jo.

I do not have an example photo of Ina's template but Jo made one to use for different sizes:

Fun workshop!

Happy Crafting!

Craft Retreat 2, 2019 Post #3 Mickey Woodcock's Workshop

You may know that I am in my third week of a 9 week trip to Australia -
that's why I am 'on hold' at the moment, and will not be sending out any happy post!

I am finding it pretty difficult to catch up on my blogging... so I apologise for the lateness of these posts about our recent craft retreat.

Anyway here is post #3 about CR2.

Hopefully you have seen the first two posts - but they didn't really start at the beginning...

We started gathering on the Friday evening and met for dinner - lovely to meet up with friends old and new!

The next morning we arrived at the Wendlebury Village Hall in time to set up for the day...

We were welcomed by Mickey Woodcock

and then started with Mickey's Workshop... part of this was making the stickers that I mentioned in the previous post, but mainly it was to decorate a notebook. This was the brief:

In this workshop we will be making a small mixed media Gratitude journal.  Mickey Woodcock will be taking you through different mixed media techniques to create a small journal that you can write in the big and the small things we have in our lives to be grateful for.  You’ll be creating some inspirational handcrafted “stickers” and have the options of  decorating your pages with washi tape.  This will be a journal you’ll just love to write in.

I personally always love Mickey's workshops as they can be messy!

'Grateful' was made using three die cut words, sticking them together to make a 'chipboard'.
The covers involved a variety of paints and inks, stencils and texture paste.
This was mine...

What is really great about the retreats is the spin off crafting we do after the event.
Recently Sue Tossell and Karen Dunleavey got together and Karen decorated this notebook:

Karen tells me the notebook is an Eileen Hull Sissix Bigz die and the papers were from her stash. Now I need that die...

Watch out for my post about Ina's workshop coming soon - this produced lots of spin off crafting!!

Happy Crafting!
